1937 CASILDA H5 Meteorite from Argentina 4.0g
4.0 gram part slice of Casilda, an H5 chondrite from Cordoba, Argentina found in 1937. A Total Known Weight (TKW) of 5.25 kilograms is officially recorded for this meteorite although a second piece weighing 13.1 kilograms was found around 2000. The second piece sat unstudied in a rhodocrosite dealer’s basement in Colorado for over 10 years before being sent out for research. That work confirmed that this “new” stone matched the already known Casilda chondrite that was already reported from this area at coordinates 33°57' S., 60°40' W. This specimen comes with an identification card from The Hupé Collection.
