SHATTER CONES IN KERSANTITE FROM THE RIES METEORITE CRATER  / GERMANY FOUND IN WENGENHAUSEN QUARRY LOCATED IN THE WESTERN PART OF THE CENTRAL RIM (CHRYSTALLINE RIM or central crater rim) REGION OF THE ASTROBLEME. ( SEE FIELD IMAGE)

SHATTER CONES ARE PRODUCED WHEN AN IMPACT SHOCK WAVE WITH pressures OF ABOUT 2 GPa  TO 30 GPa  PASSES THE TAGRGET ROCK DEEP BELOW THE POINT OF IMPACT.

SHATTER cones have proven to be a reliable field criterion for identifying and studying impact structures.

sHATTER CONES are generally accepted as unique indicators of shock pressures and meteorite impact.

BEAUTIFUL DISPLAY PIECES CLEARLY SHOWING THE TYPICAL HORSETAILING SURFACE STRUCTURE WELL DEMONSTRATING THE SHOCK WAVE'S INFLUENCE ON TERRESTRICAL ROCK OF THE TARGET AREA.
