Item is a 1.74g full slice of NWA 6394 Rumurutiite meteorite that was found in North West Africa and purchased out of Erfoud, Morocco in April 2010, with 155g total known weight (TKW) recovered. Rumuruti is an olivine-rich chondritic breccia with light-dark structure. Based on the coexistence of highly recrystallized fragments and unequilibrated components, Rumuruti is classified as a type 3.9 chondrite breccia. R chondrites differ from other chondrite groups in having a greater proportion of (iron-rich) olivine, a lower proportion of pyroxene, and virtually no nickel-iron metal, as the iron was either oxidized or in the form of iron sulfides. The iron-rich olivines and iron oxides give most R chondrites a distinctive red coloration. Scale cube in photo is 1cm on each side, and not included in sale.
