NWA 791 Nice Looking L6 Meteorite 4.90g
4.90 gram part slice of NWA 791, an L6, S3, W1 Chondrite meteorite. UCLA did the classification in 2001 and for some reason never submitted it to the Nomenclature Committee. There are several meteorites in the NWA 7XX and 8XX series that were classified including well-know material like NWA 800 and 801 that were never submitted by UCLA. In any case, this is a great looking meteorite with a reported weight of ~21 kilograms. This is from the original batch in which a type specimen was deposited to UCLA so you can be confident of the classification.
We polish both sides when applicable because we feel there should be no signs of saw marks ruining the appearance of an otherwise collectable specimen. The last step in preparing each piece is to dry it using pure ethyl alcohol and a heat lamp, creating a very stable piece that will stand the test of time. This specimen comes with an identification card from The Hupé Collection.
